Caribbean Star rocks for Skin Cancer Charity
Welton, a sleepy Lincolnshire Village, rocked recently when the village hall turned into a concert venue where one of the Caribbean’s hottest superstars, Magnet Man, was the headline act at a concert in aid of SCKIN. (The Karen Clifford Skin Cancer Charity).
The concert starring Barbadian Platinum selling artiste Magnet Man, was put on by Make–A-Difference Foundation who is an organization run by music industry professionals to support various causes world wide. See www.make-a-difference.tv The Make-A-Difference Team were inspired to put on the concert

by Pauline Grundy of Welton who made them aware of the SKCIN charity. Pauline, who herself is battling with skin cancer, told Make-A-Difference how this form of cancer doesn’t receive as much support as more well known forms of the disease.
Make-A-Difference, via a statement on their website, set out the aims of supporting SKCIN as follows: 1) To raise awareness of the charity and encourage others to hold events to raise further awareness and funds. 2) To raise awareness of the dangers of exposure to the sun and help educate people about the disease itself.
The concert’s headliner, the Caribbean Superstar Magnet Man, is a platinum selling artist who has been nominated for 9 awards during the last 2 years. He recently performed at the World Cup Cricket Finals in Barbados and has toured the world performing in more than 15 countries including Russia. He is not only a top recoding artiste but also a film actor and Humanitarian being the official UNICEF representative for the Schools For Africa Campaign, his song Make A Difference being officially adopted by UNICEF for that cause. His debut movie was premiered in the Bahamas earlier this year where Magnet Man walked the red carpet with Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery.
Already the concert inspired another group from Lincolnshire to hold a sponsored walk for SKCIN. And a sponsored bike ride is in the planning stage. The concert was hopefully the forerunner of a much bigger stadium type concert planned for 2008 for SCKIN which will not only have the outstanding charismatic performer Magnet Man on the bill as headliner but will include the superb young UK bands Gimble and The Insex who also entertained the crowd to rapturous applause at the Welton gig where they were support acts to Magnet Man.
Magnet Man has performed at Wembley Stadium to a huge crowd of thousands when he was on tour with USA hip hop start Busta Rhymes, thought the idea of using a football stadium or similar venue for a mega concert for SCKIN was a wonderful idea.
