This allows SKCIN to update the app and add features, without the need for users to install updated versions. With 90% of all skin cancers caused by over-exposure to UV radiation and therefore largely preventable, this feature provides users with essential educational content and practical advice to develop their knowledge of UV radiation, how it can lead to skin cancer and how to reduce the risk by using a combination of five key sun protection measures.

THE UV INDEX FORECAST

The UV Index tool provides users with instant access to the current UV Index, its daily peak and a 2 day, hourly forecast for multiple locations, anywhere across the globe. Protection advice based on UV levels is provided and handy SMS alerts can be activated to let users know when the UVI reaches 3, when it reaches it’s daily peak and to provide 2 hourly sunscreen reminders.

Whilst to varying degrees we are all at risk of skin cancer, a person’s individual level of risk can vary dramatically due to multiple factors. By answering a series of specific multiple choice questions, the Risk Assessor tool enables users to retain a personalised risk assessment with detailed rationale and advice relating to these factors.

This feature provides users with practical advice in the form of a step-by-step guide to conducting thorough, full-body skin examinations with the ability to activate handy, monthly SMS alerts to remind users when their next examinations are due.
